Headcanon: The Doofenshmirtz Laugh

overanalyzing-phineas-and-ferb:

We all know that Vanessa likes to be “serious” and that she tries not to laugh or show excessive glee. What if this is because she inherited her dad’s odd laughing cackle? From an early age she was embarrassed to laugh in front her friends and adopted a personality that would allow her to hide that particular trait.

It’s very possible. And it doesn’t screw with canon either.

It could also be that Vanessa acts the way she does because inside she’s still torn up about the divorce. Yeah, we’ve seen her look like she doesn’t care about her dad at all and dislikes being around him, but I think she genuinely wants to be around Doofenshmirtz. She’s just not sure how her feelings would translate to someone so… well, evil. Would he take her seriously? Or would he dismiss her feelings immediately? The Doof we know would take Vanessa’s feelings seriously, but Vanessa doesn’t know that. Vanessa is probably afraid to show Doofenshmirtz how much she misses him.

It could also be that she’s angry about the divorce. All the gloom and doom could be the result of her anger at her father’s departure. Sure, she gets to see him every other day/week, but it’s not enough. She wants him to put down the Inators and have a good time with him (though obviously not in public; maybe at home, laughing and talking).

Either way, it’s a good headcanon you’ve got there. c:

Says someone that has obviously never watched the show.

That’s part of what makes the show so genius. You have the same formula every episode, yet the writers can totally twist it around and make it into something cool. Like instead of Phineas and Ferb building something, Doofenshmirtz and Norm build something and Vanessa tries to bust them. While in the mean time Phineas builds something, rants about the tri-state area, and is (though not purposely) thwarted by Perry. Ending it by saying ”BLESS YOU, PERRY THE PLATYPUS!” after Perry sneezes.
And while the same formula is in every episode, they don’t do the same thing every day. If you paid attention you could see it’s different every day. Rollercoaster, portal to Mars, getting a band back together, driving chariots downtown; does all of that sound the same?
I’m not trying to jump down your throat, confessor, but give the show another shot keeping this in mind.
